17 January 2017 – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s (EERE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA's) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), released a Notice of Intent for a Request for Applications (RFA) for Fiscal Year 17 Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI) on January 13, 2017. The RFA will call for applications for funding for the economic and environmental improvement of renewable biomass sources, as well as the diversification and increased availability of renewable fuels and bioproducts. Specifically, applications for funding will be requested for the following three areas:
1. Feedstocks development
2. Biofuels and biobased products development
3. Biofuels development analysis
The RFA is expected to be announced by USDA in February 2017. For more information, refer to the NOI and EERE announcement.
