April 29, 2021 — The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) hosted its first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) summit. The goal was to bring together a host of regulators, suppliers, dealers, and other organizations vested in SAF to strategize on advancing SAF production and technology. The group’s vision focuses specifically on an upcoming legislative proposal by the European Commission called ReFuelEU Aviation Initiative. Some highlights include: Incentivizing the SAF value chain to allow market growth, prioritizing SAF for civil aviation, and incentivizing research and development efforts on SAF technologies. The association has a goal of accelerating the availability and use of SAF, and the ReFuelEU initiative will possibly enable them to make solid strides in reaching their goal.
