April 27, 2021 — United Airlines has announced the launch of its Eco-Skies Alliance program, a program that allows participants to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). So far, more than a dozen global corporations have contributed towards the purchase of 3.4 million gallons of SAF through the program this year. United has partnered with many of participating companies over the years to help offset their flight emissions, but United sees the Eco-flight program as the next step of going beyond carbon offsetting. United believes this support of SAF-powered flying will lead to a more affordable SAF supply and eventually lower emissions in the aviation industry.
