Case Study Launched to Show Potential of Blockchain for Biofuel Traceability

March 24, 2021 — The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) and Bioledger have launched a new case study in Switzerland on the potential of a blockchain database to verify data and overcome challenges in securing the supply of sustainable renewables. The prototype utilized several metrics including: verifiable proof of origin, secure consignment creation, process simplification, audit efficiency, data integrity, and central governance. Project partners, companies that are involved in the production and distribution of fuels made from cooking oil, tested the database and processed a total of 1,927,906 liters of feedstock, which accurately represented realistic commercial and operation processes.
