Qantas Pledges Zero Net Emissions by 2050
   

November 19, 2019 – Qantas airline group has pledged to cut its net carbon emissions to zero by 2050. With this goal, Qantas joins airlines under the International Airlines Group, including British Airways, in going beyond most other airlines that have agreed to cut emissions to half their 2005 level by 2050. Qantas plans to achieve the goal through better fuel efficiency and carbon offsets. Currently, 10 percent of Qantas passengers pay to offset their contribution to carbon emissions. These offset projects include restoring wetland and rainforest, reducing the likelihood of wildfires and conserving land in Australia. Qantas is also spending $50 million over the necxt 10 years to help develop the sustainable avaiation fuel industry in Australia.
