October 11, 2019 – Expander Energy has announced it has entered into a letter of intent with Vanderwall Contractors to build Canada’s first commercial demonstration biomass/gas to liquids facility (BGTL) in the Slave Lake area of Alberta. The facility will plans to produce biodiesel and alternative jet fuel under the trade names SynDiesel and SynJet from a variety of feedstocks. The project will proceed in two phases with an expected production capacity of 120 barrels per day (BPD) in the first phase increasing to 500 BPD in the second phase. A project timeline was not stated in the announcement.
